Licensed mold testing & inspection companies in San Antonio

13 licensed mold testing and inspection companies in San Antonio, mold specialists first. In Texas, the inspector can’t also do the cleanup on the same job.

Why “independent” matters: an inspector who doesn’t also sell remediation has no stake in how big the cleanup is. Here’s what the law says.

Mold testing and inspection in San Antonio at a glance

State records list 19 licensed mold assessment companies based in the San Antonio area. This page profiles 13 companies we could match to a Google business listing; 1 of them is a mold specialist, with at least half of its reviews about mold work.

Across 37 Google reviews about their mold work, reviewers most often praised detailed reports, clear communication and fast response, and the parts of the home mentioned most were whole-house jobs, HVAC ducts and bathrooms.

An inspection tells you how far the problem goes before anyone quotes for removal — and in Texas the inspector can’t also do the cleanup on the same project. Read what Texas law says about that.

Why it matters

Why an independent inspector matters

Texas splits mold work into two licensed jobs: assessment (inspection and testing) and remediation (removal). The law keeps them apart on any single project:

“A license holder may not perform both mold assessment and mold remediation on the same project.”

Texas Occupations Code §1958.155(a)Read the statute (opens in a new tab)

It goes further than the license holder. The same people can’t own both sides of a project either:

“A person may not own an interest in both the entity that performs assessment services and an entity that performs remediation services on the same project.”

Texas Occupations Code §1958.155(b)Read the statute (opens in a new tab)

In practice: the inspector you hire decides what needs removing, and has no business reason to make that job bigger. If a company offers to test and then clean up the same mold, ask which license each part falls under — and get the assessment from someone else.
